If you've ever needed a powerful and extremely configurable file management tool, Magellan Explorer is what you've been looking for. It supports a dual window mode of operation for easier file manipulation (see screen shot below) although it can also mimic the browsing mode of the Windows Explorer whilst still providing a big increase in functionality and productivity.

Treat your web/FTP site(s), Zip and other archive files the same way you treat your local files. No more starting separate applications to handle a zip file, or up/downloading a file from the internet. It can all be done simply, quickly and even at the same time using Magellan.

You can bookmark folders, networked machines/drives and FTP directories just as you would a web site, with easy recalling of those bookmarked places at any future time (see the items in the right hand window above with the "star in the folder" icon to the left). They can even be set up in folders themselves in the fully registered version. Move backwards and forwards through your folders just as in a web browser using back and forward buttons and commands "Virtual" folders make temporary work spaces much easier to manage.

You can configure virtually every aspect of Magellan. As you can see above colours can be of your own choosing, the commands available on the button panel at the bottom of the screen can be set however you like. Each button has its own colours, commands and right click context menu. Each window has a configurable "navigation bar" that allows you one click access to many functions as well. These "bars" can be positioned at various locations around the screen so you can setup your work environment just as you like. Magellan can remember where you left off last time next time you start it up too.

There are two versions available for download. If you are using Win95/NT and IE4+ or Win98 or later then you can download the smaller installation. If you don't have Win98 or later, or IE4, installed then you need the larger version which includes some extra files that are required for Magellan to work correctly. Download from here
